A QUICK TOUR OF THE SO&CO HOMAGE WATCH. to Keep or Not?

Recommended Posts

Hi, Gang!

As I noted several nights ago on weekly wristies  for the week of 04/22/19, I'm posting a quick tour of another SO & CO (a/k/s S0CONY) I purchased & debating whether to keep or not. It's a water resistant (literally -- 100m) homage to the ROLEX YACHTIE w/ blue dial; I posted a comparison of this SO&CO watch with my good ROLEX YACHT MASTER rep on Monday evening. I'm just not certain about keeping it or just returning it for a refund from the seller on amazon.com. As noted then, it's a sizable piece @ 43.5mm w/crown x 12.1mm wide & weighs in at 112 grams, which isn'  bad for a quartz watch. It has a sunburst style blue dial and small date window and cyclops; the bracelet links are solid & appear to be well-made -- along with the case, with no sharp edges. The bezel is unidirectional and is a tinch loose but not serious so. The bracelet, as you can see in the pics are stainless steel with polished center links. The case possesses both a screw down crown and caseback; and as I wrote before, I've had several other SOCONY watches in the pool while swimming with no problems. The GMT hand does work and is independently adjustable -- something one doesn't find too much on a watch priced under $50. It comes with both an outer and inner box, warranty cards and other helpful info. I've been wearing it around the house and looks decent for the beater watch it is; the only question: should I keep this or return it for a refund.  Here's several pics of the whole process, from unboxing to the warranty cards. I've included at the end a link to the amazon.com site where you could explore additional info if you wish. Thanks for looking & sorry for my usual PhD dissertation.  dave:

I think I've got cataracts, Dave.

Nice watch though.

If you enjoy wearing it, then hang onto it as it appears to be a good daily beater.

(You mentioned $50 and that this isn't your first SoCo)

The final choice is yours................go with your gut instinct.

Best wishes,

Russ.

PS: Nice tablecloth.

To be fair, you managed to get the instructions almost in focus. Well done.

Nice crown, nice tablecloth- but the rest is too blurry to comment on.

Dave, your commentary was all positive mate, so if you like it and it feels good on the wrist, keep it.

Otherwise, change your name to cqp777 and sell it for $180 on M2M. :D

...hahaha!! I KNEW I could count on your comics to let me have it!!  Some of the comments are right on target: I THOUGHT the camera was in focus; obviously, I wasn't paying attention. I'll go stand in the corner.:baghead:  On the other hand, I DO have about five (5) of these watches, which have been trouble free.  That said, I think I will return it for something else I spotted on The Bay

THANKS AGAIN, people! I KNEW you'd come through...  .

Decent enough looking watch, but what I would really like to know is this: What flavour Wotsits are these, because I'm sure they're not cheese?

I'd rather get a NH-35 based Invicta...

Not for me, but consider that I truly hate the so called "homages" (apart some very well made ones, like some of the the Dan Henry watches). They really taste of "wannabe" to me. Either go gen or go fully rep.
