NCRich 13,714 Posted April 30, 2019 One of the first watches I ever tried to build. Just a basic stock Silix case set. A Rafflestime dial, hands, and a gen swiss 2879. It was pretty good for a newbie modder wannabe. I was never satisfied as all the gens looked like this: ] So I finally decided to see what I could do. I relumed the dial, aged the hands and relumed, and replaced the plexi with a SK high dome. But the insert baffled me. I finally took it off the watch and carefully removed the white paint underneath with a manicurist qtip and some acetone. Repainted it with some watercolors and sealed the back side with lacquer. Matte sprayed the dial, and most importantly the shiny plastic insert. I think its much better now. Relumed dial and hands Finished watch

For one of your first attempts to build yourself a watch, I'd say you outdid yourself, Rich! Heck, I'd pay you good money for it! And here, I thought I was cool because I could resize bracelets, replace batteries in quartz watches, and regulate the timing on some automatics. KUDOS to you, my friend!! dave
