116613 WLC auctioning Rep as gen

Recommended Posts

Hello, Iv been a lurker for a long time now so I thought I would share something that I found today to pop my cherry

So as I was scrolling through Facebook someone had shared a picture of a 116613 that is going into a auction on sunday, so I checked the serial number out and it came back produced in 2000. Abit strange for something that didn’t start production till 2009 don’t you think? Iv messaged the company and there have come back saying they authenticator has checked it again and it is defiantly genuine.

I have used this company in the past as they are not very far away from where I live, but something smelly fishy here lol

Here’s the auction

What you guys think? Rep or Gen?

Pete

Welcome, I'm no expert on subs, but that gold bezel inlay looks shocking! The print is crappy on almost every digit and batton.

I too am no expert on Rolex - actually I'm not an expert on anything - but if I had a gun at my head, I'd say it's Gen.

Based on the short video, I'd say gen as well.  They may have just put the wrong serial on the auction site.

I thought that at first but if you look at the video you can see the same serial engraved on the inner bezel.

Looks like it ends in 065 to me, though it's not clear (to me).

At 0.09 in the video you can see the last three better 083

You're 100% correct.  If you pause the video a few times you can see all the parts of the serial number clearly.  It is P0448083.

But Rolex went to 8 digit serial numbers, which this has, in 2010 so I'm guessing it probably is gen.

They are numpties wouldn’t trust them. Posted up a sales thread for a Daytona, had left the chrono running for god knows how many days.

It’s gen. Rolex went to randomized or ‘scrambled’ serial Numbers in 2010/2011, you can’t date modern Rolex by their serial numbers anymore.

The last consequent run of serial numbers was G series in 2010.

This 8 digit serial, randomly, starts with a P. So all the online serial checkers mistakenly go: P-series, which would be production year 2000. An actual P series watch would have 7 digits, not 8.
