No, there's no such thing. The 2836 is actually good enough, it's reliable and the date setting works like in gen. I don't think they'll ever clone that movement.

Just asked as in some VSF aqua terras , Planet Oceans, De Ville & Spectre is clone movement inside.

So I thought also this one was repped also in its movement.

That looks amazing! Apart from the fact that it's two tone. And has a cum stain in the '20' on the bezel insert.

Yeah, but those watches have required a clone to be made because of the date setting by hour hand, the gen 8800 has a regular date quickset, just like the 2836/2824. I actually prefer this one, the date setting on the 8500 clone drives me insane..

You're right, it's a 2824 clone. 

Still amazing. Don't get me wrong... we are just discussing, I am not trying to tell "clone would be better than a2824 decorated", not at all...

Gotcha. I'm actually very glad that they were able to use the 2824,they're reliable and parts are readily available.

Do you think it's worth getting this watch serviced straight away, or is the consensus that this is a reliable watch/will last without it?  

If anyone has any tips on how to do a few (easy/novice level) DIY checks that would be great.

If it goes well, let it go.

DIY: 

I also check them on timegrapher (regulate if needed) and grease the crown thread and gasket but leave this if you're not used to work on watch movements.
