ADK46r 0 Posted June 17, 2019 (edited) Hi everyone, Super newbie here. I have scoured the site looking for ways to determine if the Submariner 116610 I have is real or a replica. I know there are nuances that you experts will be able to pick up instantly that I don't know about. I believe this one to be a replica because of the following reasons. 1. the seconds hand is loose and moves around as you tilt it. ( guessing poor quality replica ) 2. the crown on the rehault at the 12 o'clock position between the words Rolex is offset to the right. ( my iphone can't get this picture ). 3. The model number engraving looks more like laser than engraved. I can take more photo's if necessary and I need to read up on the taking photo's thread. Thanks! Ok, not allowing me to upload images....maybe because I am a newbie? Sorry folks Edited June 17, 2019 by ADK46r no pics uploaded

ADK46r 0 Posted June 17, 2019 Thanks for the link. Here are a couple...again, I am using my iPhone so but will work on better pics. Also, if you need any additional ones if necessary. https://picr.me/image/VS1n3ahttps://picr.me/image/VS1Mvfhttps://picr.me/image/VS1eGy 2 hours ago, Livebythebody said: How much did you pay for it, to his maybe a good indicator Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I didn't pay anything for this. I have a few more I need to post but I thought I would start with this one. They were left in a safe I inherited.

CurioLeo 296 Posted June 17, 2019 Does the time set clockwise or anticlockwise ?

I appreciate it! Thanks Actually that does not apply as a blanket statement for all rolex watches. Some of them, such as the new 43mm sea dweller, are counter clockwise as the 2824 and 2836 are, so the reps with those movements operate just like the gen. I will post another one once I take the pictures. Incorrect date font, incorrect dial printing font as well. Google a few pictures of the 116610 and look closely at the fonts used to print the dials, start with the "1000." The lume job looks a little sloppy to me, not even. Also, I really don't see any trace of the platinum powder in the bezel insert numbers either, they all look the same color whether illuminated or not. Xpletiv 16 Posted June 18, 2019 And it doesn't matter how much you paid or didn't pay, scammers and suckers are everywhere. Used them for learning to MOD! Not that you're a sucker. Not that that's wrong. Not that I care to know. I don't. Move along.....
Enthusiast88 3 Posted June 18, 2019 Definitely rep... just from looking at the bezel pip. OP, did you buy this as gen?

I purchased a home and there was a safe left in it. Owner didn't remember the combo and said I could have it. Managed to get it open and found this along with a few others I mentioned above. I will use this and the others to learn the nuances that make this a rep. I will also use it to work on and learn. Now time for reading all the great threads on here and getting more educated. Again, I appreciate the help.
