When to go luxury gen?

For those who have gone and spent upwards of $1K on a gen, what's the main difference between wearing  a rep vs gen? 

I'm considering going for a tapestry dj 36 but before spending $3,5K on it, I wanted the forum's opinion on what benefits do you feel and why you went gen.

*I don't expect to be bestowed XYZ by the watch gods but...*

The feeling is more or less just in your head. The physical difference (we are speaking of super reps ok?) is risible.

I own numerous gens and have only recently got into the rep world. I’d summarise by saying the gens are just that 5 - 10% better in every department...bracelets with no sharp edges and don’t pull my arm hairs, crowns that wind smoothly, Lume that lasts more than 10 minutes etc etc. All small details but they do add up. 

However, if I’d gone into reps without ever owning a gen I’m sure I’d not have picked up on these things and I’d certainly be a damn site richer!
