To be safe, you should get it pressure tested first, otherwise it’s a complete lottery. Most watch repair shops/stalls will do it for you.

If you really want it to be water resistant then a better option is to get a rep-friendly watchsmith to check it over and make all the seals good before getting it pressure tested. ;)

How deep are you planning on going? Unsurprisingly perhaps, rep divers seem to be the watches that have the best water resistance out of the box from what I can tell (but always get them tested etc as said above).

which rep in particular?

i've swam with the JF 16610 straight out of the box on holiday in menorca, seemed ok afterwards. I did check the caseback  and the crown were tight before i went in the sea. seemed ok, but theres always a risk.

on the other hand (figuratively) i have a tudor BB blue which fogs up when i do the washing up.

Did you want to actually be safe diving or did you just want to wear a watch in the water?  Cuz that watch is as good as tits on a bull multilevel diving.  I'll just stick with the life saving computers.

I'd get it tested to be safe, but if you're a gambling man, I reckon that would be good for 6atm (working on the basis it's newish and hasn't been opened since BK had it in hand).

It's obvious thicko. The modern rep divers are made so well and mimic the divers they copy so well that they are intrinsicly more water resistant than say a rep dress watch. Durrrr.

Maybe BK’s stuff falls into the “rep divers are more waterproof than gens” you were on about in a previous post on this thread

That's not what I meant you inbred pipe bender! I meant that rep divers are more water resistant than other types of reps. More resistant than dress watches say or non triple lock Rolies like OPs. The new divers are awesome. I've read that the VSF Seamaster 300 has hit 10atm out of the box!

What's even worse is they're Spanish so it's constant "blah blah blah Scorchio...." all day long.

And even my fecking TV is speaking Spanish. It's just so wrong.
