Ingersoll 'The Scovill' Automatic

OK, so I was browsing through the watchshop.com website the other day, as you do, and came across this little beauty. People amongst us will know that sometimes when you're browsing, a watch will just hit you and make you keep looking. This one did just that. I kept looking through, but kept coming back to this one. It wasn't expensive. It wasn't a top brand. But there was something about it. It was a bloody damn good looking watch. The 'vintage' style of it just really appealed to me.

I looked through the whole range of this manufacturer, it seemed to be at the top end of their offerings, but when all said and done it was still the best looking watch they did, in my opinion. With offers etc, it worked out that I could get 44% off the list price, and there was only 3 in stock, so I bought it. Equivalent to roughly the same price as a half decent rep.

It hasn't got the greatest movement in it, being a low beat Miyota, but thought I'd give it a chance. It doesn't seem to suffer from the Miyota stutter, and seems to be fairly smooth for a low beat. Nice quiet rotor as well, although not entirely silent. If I'm being hyper-critical, the only thing that bugs me slightly is that the bezel doesn't centre between clicks.

I'll put all the specs below and some unboxing pictures.

Case Size: 43mm
Case Material: Bronze
Movement: Miyota 821A 21.6K low beat auto.
Strap: Genuine American Horween Leather, with bronze buckle.
Glass: Scratch-resistant Mineral Glass
Warranty: Lifetime Warranty

It comes is a nice sturdy wooden box. Great packaging for a fairly inexpensive watch.

Inside the box is foam packaging, holding a 'one does all' instruction booklet, a solid aluminium Authenticity Card & the watch itself

Quite unusual to find a substantial, great quality Horween leather strap on a watch at this price. There was a problem with the tongue on the buckle, as it appeared to be a little too short, and went through the buckle when it was done up. Sorted with a cloth around the tongue and a little squeeze with the watch pliers to flatten the profile a little.

At 43mm, wears really well on 8" wrist. Quite light, and really comfy strap. All in all, I love this watch!

That’s really nice!

Love the vintage look with the thin bezel, hopefully it develops a nice patina for you.

Nice addition to the collection.

So $427 with no tax and free shipping is the best I can find.  Does that sound right @FudgyDocker?

Looking at the other options, it appears that they may be slightly Black Bay-esque in their styling.

I see the similarities, but they have taken in their own unique style.

Hands, indices, bezel size, font etc are all different. Some colour choices are the same though

Certainly did. It's an even better feeling to get a watch you love, knowing you nipped in at exactly the right moment to get the deal!

I love the look of these. On further investigation discoverd the Bateman model too. never really looked at Ingersoll before as had only associated them with nurses fob watches. Funds a little tight at the mo so will need to keep an eye open for a pre owned one. Thanks OP! Love it when I find something new.

I have seen these Ingersoll watches in the Lufthansa flight magazine.

They have several good looking models also with skeleton display

I avoided the skeleton ones. Absolutely hate them.
