MDT1998 45 Posted April 30, 2024 Is there a difference in weight when it comes to 316L vs 904L
Redfire1066 14,088 Posted April 30, 2024 @MDT1998 For the layman they are the same weight. These two metals are within 99.99 % of the same weight of each other with the 904L being the heavier by a . . .. . .. lets say a cat's whisker. Obviously if buying in megatons this small difference will have a higher cost to weight value overall. The "L" stands for Low Carbon. These two links may be good reading for you. https://www.snglrtywatch.com/all/how-watches-work/904l-oystersteel-316l-or-304l-here-is-meaning-in-the-codes/ https://www.twmetals.com/resources/calculators.html
rusky27 1,989 Posted April 30, 2024 I always go for a 914L whenever I buy a flue liner for a wood burner. Lasts longer.

Art Vandelay 14 Posted May 29, 2024 Visually I think 316l looks slightly darker, but that's really only when comparing side by side.
