Vintage Sea Dwellers

JK has a new Comex dialed Dweller.  Ordered a couple from Marvellous Replica who has a long running sale on these.  Lot of watch for $100.  Here's a look at the DRSD and the new Comex.  Both have been aged, relumed, and drilled and shaped.  The DRSD has the Cousins tropic 39 (my personal fav) and the Comex the stock factory superdome.  The inserts were faded too.  PICS!

I'm not sure to what you are referring.  They are drilled to 1.3mm.  The Comex has the bars that came with it on the bracelet because I have not modded the bracelet to fit 2mm bars yet.

I like the subtle aging! And thanks the link in the shoutbox.

@NCRich Do you use a dremel for the case reshaping? I might consider investing in some tools if I’m joining the vintage modding scene :D

On pic number 4 they look huge LOL
But this will look fine when there are 2mm bars inside, didnt knew that those fitted ones are the stock cartels.

Dremel, sandpaper, and small files.  Drill press and polisher.

That looks Awesome, I really like the Seadweller series.

I think that I will try an aging attempt on one too. I really enjoy learning how to mod my collection.

This is an inspiration for my next project, Thank You.

Dremel (or similar) is the way to go. That and a steady hand for the lume painting.

You forgot most important tool.... A lot of elbow grease to get to the desired finish on case and keeping it uniform lol

Well when I start showcasing my builds you’ll be privileged to see the novel, patented“Shaky Lume” — a much coveted version of vintage Rolexes.

And an eye for symmetry... Do you guys mark out the intended shape onto the case or play it by ear and comparing with a photo of a gen?

Vernier Calipers are very helpful.

I measured at first, but I've found I can do it without.

Your luming skills are starting to get my attention, Rich.

Am strongly considering sending you a couple of my vintage Rolie watch heads for a vintage like re-lume  (just how they looked in the 50's, plump like a droplet).

My 6204 with the lollypop seconds hand might be first cab off the rank.

Yes I do the lume.  No magic formula, its really just a steady hand and practice.
