I've tried both, still prefer the white binder.  You can do more with it and it isn't as messy to me.  But opinions vary.  I have a $200 fancy lume kit but I keep going back to the $20 watchlume.  Light coat of matte lacquer will take care of that shine if you don't like it.  If I do indices, I will use "proper" binder.

As for the inserts fading, its random.  5 JK factory, different flavors, 2 faded 3 just self destructed.  I've done dozens and this is new.

In my experience Athaya crowns are crap.  They fail constantly and I've got 3 in the box in my workshop that I won't put on a watch.  They break, they strip, and they don't fit the case correctly without countersinking.  Hopefully you will get a good one.

You can relume the JK factory pearl.  Just pop it out, insert a small drill bit in the back and spin it in your fingers.  Light colored lume comes out and you can relume.

Anyhow, nice looking watch.

I almost missed these words of wisdom! Thank goodness I didn't, I didn't realise how easy it was to sort out the pearl. I didn't even realise the pearls were just lume

This already looks a million times better than my previous spunkbubble, but I think I'll redo it later as it's a tad small. Awesome advice though as always big man!

Thanks! I’m waiting on my Vietnam dial now so this dial will end up on M2M some time in the near future.

Atheya crown and tube have gone down hill since the last time I used one a few years ago. The only way you can get it to sit close to flush without drilling is basically turning the crown as far as you can with the tube in it. Used a pair of very thin blades pliers with some making tape on it and was about to turn it a good 5 more times and was able to get it to sit flush. The problem then is the tube will most likely come off when you unscrew the crown. The only way I was able to do this was to use threadlock (obviously) and grease the threads on the crown part of the tube. Then wait a good day or 2 for the threadlock to completely set and hope for the best. Lucky for me, it worked out this time. If the tube comes out again, I’ll set recess it with a drill. Not a fan of that look but gotta do what you gotta do.

The watchlume kit ALWAYS clumps up on me after luming 2-3 markers. If I try to move some lume around, big chunks of it just start moving. It messed me up so much on practice dials that I just didn’t want to risk it on a dial I planned on using. If you want more of that binder, I’ll gladly give you my bottle. Just pay for shipping. I’ve prob used about 5 drops of the stuff.

PM me if you want it.

I quite like those glossy markers! I like all of it in fact! Payment sent!

Ha! Thanks!

Maybe soon... when I start my 16800 build, this will most likely end up on M2M with a Vietnam dial and a fully serviced movement. ;) I’m way too OCD to have a plexi crystal. Those hairline scratches bug the crap out of me every time I wear it.

Thanks, but its just white Elmer's glue.  Not worth shipping.  I will just buy the lume without the glue next time.  As with everything, its what you get used to working with.
