Hi All,

Received my first replica watch !

ARF Oyster Perpetual, ordered from Joshua, smooth transaction.   My first impressions.

  • It is just a watch
  • Had gotten so used to looking at full size photos the watch looks very small
  • Very well finished, the most nicely finished watch that I now own.
  • Fun hobby, I don't really care what name is on the dial, it is a very nicely finished watch
  • Not sure about the color, need to give it time.  I first I thought it was the red grape color, the dial picks up lots of light and reflects very nicely.
  • Need to clean the bracelet
  • Hard to read the silver hands on a gray dial.  Would like the blue better.
  • Overall a subtle, finely finished watch
  • Happy that I did not spend $ 6,150 USD for the watch, would feel ripped off.
  • Not Worth Buying in Genuine NWBIG

Thank you all for the guidance !

Yeah, I'm slightly underwhelmed by this watch. I have it as well and although I always think it looks amazing in photos, in real life, I rarely find myself picking it out of the watchbox when I'm deciding what to wear.

Anyway, time to order your next rep I'd say.....

No dress watch you’ve got there.

Well.....I hate to say I told you so but I did warn you  that the rhodium is "good but drab (as is the gen)"

Hi CurioLeo,

Yeah you did.  I am not disappointed, just the watch does not have a lot of "presence".   Very nicely made, great details, but, drab is a good word.

Recommendations for the next purchase ?  IWC Laureus Sport Ingenieur 2824 Noob ? Blue or Black Blancpain Fifty Fathoms ZF ? OMF Speedmaster Professional ?  Other ?

Thank you

Hi @TheGingerFerret,

Funny the watch looks better on my computer than on my wrist.

Here are a couple of options - the BP FF and an IWC Mark XVIII Laureus.  I personally wouldn't buy a Speedy Pro as it doesn't seem to satisfy any one for long. Besides, I  already have this one :D

Yeah, I completely agree. It's a deceptive watch, very photogenic. It's like those models who are ugly in real life and have weird eyes or something and probably got bullied for being minging at school, yet you take a professionally staged photo of them and they look stunning. Like this bird.

Intresting

lovely watch.  congrats on your first buy :)    I have a ARF DJ41 (as I just like dates) in blue so I can say the build quality is really up there.

Hi @TheGingerFerret

Yup, I keep looking at my computer wondering "why doesn't it look like that?"

No problem.  The Speedy is a virtually NOS Mark II racing, almost 50 years old.  I haven't posted the whole collection before but plenty of individual watches.  Here is today's wristie., a PAM 213 on a Mario Paci strap.

Not fair @CurioLeo,

I am trying to get to bed and all I keep doing is searching for info on the BP FF and IWC Mark XVIII Laureus.  Beautiful photos !

Your wrist might make the decision for you - the IWC is much ligher and discrete. The BP is significantly larger at 45mm but has terrific wrist presence and is way more bling despite being fairly monochromatic.

Good choice! Always been a fan of the oyster perpetual. ESP the rhodium. Been a fan of that color since I had my yachtmaster.
That was gonna be my suggestion. It’s a great looking piece. No date issues. No overlay to worry about if your movement dies and you want to replace it with a ETA.

If you don’t want it, I’ll gladly take it off your hands. Lol. My wife wants one and I’ve been on the fence about ordering one for her bc she keeps going back and forth between the oyster perp and a nomos. Smh.

If I’m really interested in buying an expensive gen, I always try the rep first. Wear it for a while and see if I still want a gen. It hasn’t happened yet except for the Hulk but with that, a friend of mine let me borrow his for a few months and now I feel like it’s a MUST. Especially with the pre-owned prices being sky high these days.

Luckily, my AD is in Vegas and with my MLife membership status, I get a hell of a discount. :D

That’s a beautiful piece though. I would keep it. It works for every occasion

This would be the other one you are interested in - it's the Noob v1 with the optional Sellita movement and a Hirsch performance strap
