GenTLe 1,485 Posted September 4, 2019 So guys, I may go toward the purchase of a tourbillon... But I know few things about them when it comes to good models... My wrists are quite large, so I wouldn't go below 40mm case size. I quite like models like the IWCs with the tourbillon at 12,or the 15400 with tourby at 6, or the JLC ultrathin... I don't like the Richard Mille or those Bell&Ross tourby extravaganza. And in general I don't go crazy for the skeleton dials. But apart from this I've no idea which one is decent when it comes to representation of the genuine one. What would you suggest? Thanks, GenTLe

I have the opposite problem; my choices kinda have to be under 43mm, ideally 42mm. But there is an overlap of diameters between our preferences. These may be smaller than what you would like but they are thick so wear bigger too. Excuse the lighting, it’s night here and I don’t have photography lighting equipment. I get what you mean about trying for a close representation of the gen. But nothing will get close. Most reps will lack the small second hand at the tourby compared to gen, or the Tourbillon would look too small for the watch, case dimensions will be off compared to gen, or even worse, the wrong style of Tourbillon used. I can only speak for the ones I own: Parmigiani Tonda Hebdomadaire Mine: 41.8mm diameter The Hands should have rose gold accents, there should be a second hand. The oval around the brand name should also be RG. But disregarding all that, this is my most refined rep tourby in terms of aesthetic! Gen: Lange 1815 Mine: 42.1mm No small second hand on the rep. (Also the gen has a dead second complication built into the tourby, pretty cool to see it in action) Gen: AP RO Tourbillon Mine: 42mm, The AP writing looks wonky in the pic but it’s not like that in real life, some weird optical illusion there. Also poor lighting but blue is actually lighter like in the gen pic below, it looks near black in my photo. Rep tourby cage is too small for the watch. Gen cage is bigger and fills the hole. Rep hands are not as thin. The petit tapisserrie is not as refined on the rep. I believe it was dissected to death on RWI gen: Don’t let the differences discourage you, these reps are still classy af
Xpletiv 16 Posted September 4, 2019 Wow, that Parm is nice. Still amazes me that they couldn't have done the rest correctly, but the Rep font in the sub is way better.
CurioLeo 296 Posted September 5, 2019 Since you specifically mentioned reasonably close representation of the genuine, I would say don't bother. No Tourbillon rep is going to be within light years of a genuine. No offence to @semperfi55 but does that AP rep even remotely look like a $130k watch to you ? What do they cost - around $700 ? Must be more satisfying options out there.
GenTLe 1,485 Posted September 5, 2019 Actually probably the AP would be the one that will fit better for general usage, it is fine with both a suit and a pair of jeans, and the latest JF are well done... And on the Plus side I have already a conversion kit at home if I want it on strap...
Glaude 1,615 Posted September 7, 2019 Don't know if you'll like it, but there's a classic (ultra classic) VC that just got released with a tourbillon, and look pretty close to the gen it seems : https://puretimewatch.io/traditionnelle-tourbillon-ss-oxf-best-edition-gray-dial-on-black-leather-strap.html Multiple dial color and case available, there's a thread starting on it on RWI https://forum.replica-watch.info/forum/vacheron-constantin/8116901-new-august-2019-vacheron-tourbillon
GenTLe 1,485 Posted September 7, 2019 Thanks Claude, it looks nice, but I don't know how many occasions I'll have to wear such classic design watch. As for now I'm a bit in doubt if getting this (new model, lovely dial but nearly invisible brand that makes it a bit flat): https://player.vimeo.com/video/344321869 Or this, a bit older as AP model and with a less shiny dial but also less flat due to more visible brand: https://player.vimeo.com/video/304816226 Oh, and this would be gorgeous, but I'm not a great fan of black watches, plus the PVD treatment is more delicate than plain steel: https://player.vimeo.com/video/348517547

Foxindebox 461 Posted September 8, 2019 I love my AP Tourbillon. I sold it, regretted it and subsequently bought it back. This one has a Prof x2 AR crystal in and is beautiful.
