6497 reassembly issue.

Have I caused damage to this arm by over tightening the crown retaining screw and basically reaming the hole in the arm so that it no longer grips?

IMAG1488-1.jpg

This 6497 movement suddenly stopped winding but setting time in both crown position. I'd wound out the crown retaining screw too far allowing the arm to drop off the back (crazy that it had worked for two weeks like this). Reset the arm and springs into there correct positions, tested, functions correctly, then reassembled.

As soon as I turned the retaining screw the 1/4 turn to withdraw the crown pin, I felt the arm come off the back of the screw (Grrr). Repeated this exercise two more times (getting good at it now) but with same result, hense my question.

Thanks to anyone who responds, I'm just trying to figure out whether to bin the movement or find a new arm.

If the hole is reamed out and has no thread, then yes, it’s fucked...
