The Pam references seem random to me so I just call them the big one, medium one, small one and compass one. 4 hours ago, semperfi55 said: Nice, a watch for every occasion and good representation from the non-round watches. It looks very much like the Longines Czech Pilot watch (they also re-issued them in the Heritage collection). You know what, I've been wary of the mid-range independent brands because I think many of them are half-baked overpriced homages; they copy just enough features from the classics so you can identify the design but then fall short by adding their own flairs which negates the beauty of the original. Of course it's good for homages to have their own take on a classic but some designs are perfect as is. But your independent brand collection hits the right spot and respect for the extensive Vostok + Soviet collection! Also the first time I'm not complaining of too many divers. 45 minutes ago, KarmaToBurn said: Never thought I would see someone have this exact same piece as well Thanks for sharing this. Worthy end-of-decade SOTC!

Never thought I would see someone have this exact same piece as well Thanks for sharing this. Worthy end-of-decade SOTC! The case on the Bulova is 42mm (model # 96B230). It has the sweeping movement and can often be had for around $100. I used to have a rep of the Longines 1935 watch and I sold it because I preferred the Bulova. I'm a fan of the Vostok divers because they come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colours. They are also easily moddable if you decide to go that way. The vintage Russian watches are great because they're so damn cheap. The 2209 models are a decent size at 36mm and crazy slim. The only issue with the vintage models are they may not be reliable. The Shanghai is great and a deal at $50. I've been tempted to buy the blue or white dial to go along with my black one.

Thanks for that, very encouraging to hear that price! 26 minutes ago, KarmaToBurn said: The Shanghai is great and a deal at $50. Did you get it online? I got this as a gift from my dad while he was working in China. So I have no clue what it is called in English. 27 minutes ago, KarmaToBurn said: The only issue with the vintage models are they may not be reliable. A soft drop of these Soviet watches and the balance bridge is fucked. I have a few like that.

So I have no clue what it is called in English. I ordered mine online from Times-International. It usually takes about a month to receive stuff from them and there are lots of Chinese brands available on the site. I've seen this model posted on a few wrist check threads over on WUS but it's not very common. Whenever I post mine I tend to get a few PMs from people looking for more info on the watch. Here's a link to the Shanghai section

Well done for sharing The best way to pretend you don't have a serious problem is to break the collection up into a bunch of smaller boxes and place them around the house so you never see the whole problem at once 3 hours ago, NCRich said: Very nice and diverse set of watches. The Russian watches are fun and a super affordable way to scratch that watch buying itch. 3 hours ago, thatjakea said: Oooophh love that PLOPROF! Where’s that from? Tony at Asian7750 used to run the occasional Crazy Sale. The PLOPROF is a 21j version with a non-functional bezel lock. I think it was around $89. The thing is tough as a tank. I dropped it two stories onto a sidewalk and it only suffered a crack in the bezel insert Other watches from my collection that came from Tony's Crazy Sales are the PO 45mm with an A2824 and the Pam Arktos with an A7750 which were also both also around the $100 mark. I have asked Tony if he plans to have any future sales and he said no

I took the pictures back in September to test out my new constant lighting setup. Unfortunately, when I went to edit the batch of photos my computer decided to die (failed HD) . It took me a couple of months to get around to ordering a new computer and figure out how to use Darkroom to edit my Raw files.
