Smaller watches for small wrist (38mm or smaller)

Recommended Posts

WatchTime

Hi,

I'm new here and have been looking at a few reps for a while, but with quite a small wrist, I'm having trouble finding good options 38mm or smaller. Other than some Rolex options, are there any other brands or specific models that I should look into or that you all would suggest?

Thanks!

What mm are you looking for?  36?  40 and under?  32?

I think around 38mm or smaller. The largest that fits without looking out of place seems to be 38mm.

Also thanks for the quick and helpful replies! Great to be amongst enthusiasts.

It’s true you will have trouble with modern watches at 38mm

You could try going down the vintage path, or even looking at Seiko models as there are many to choose from at this size.

What style of watch do you prefer?

PAtek 5227, JLC ones too, Glashutte... There are many (especially classic) watches around 39mm.

Also, more sporty, IWCs pilots (non chrono) are around that size.

Nomos Tangente from Mary. 35mm, but wears bigger. I have the gen and the rep - it's a classic watch. Also the Cartier Santos 100 midsize - again a reasonably sized classic.

Looking for something a tad bit dressy and also like a complication or possibly a chrono so it doesn't look out of place in a slightly more casual setting, but generally not a sports watch person. I like vintage watches but not sure what to be looking for yet. I assume there are no reps for vintage watches?

There's a whole section on vintage reps

Tudor Black Bay 58 is a great choice for a modern sub.  Hands down my fav from my recent acquisitions.  I prefer a smaller watch too.  It is thin and light.  39mm but no crown guards.

The 36mm Rolex DJs can't be beat.  Or the day date.

A 36mm explorer is good.

The new Timex Q is nice.

Thanks, I clearly needed to look at the sub forums. Almost initial threads I read seemed to be talking about gen but probably just need to dig my way through it.

As it’s been said, the Datejust is a clear contender on that size range. I have small wrists too so I fully understand you. Anything bigger than a 5-digit Submariner feels uncomfortable to me.

Examples of watches I have worn and didn’t look too big:

Royal Oak 15450

Royal Oak 15000

Rolex GMT 6542

Rolex Explorer (the old 36mm, not the current 39mm which wears too big IMHO)

Rolex Datejust 116234

Patek Philippe Calatrava 5296G

Patek Philippe Nautilus 3800

IWC Portofino

Tudor Black Bay 36 (I own the gen, my favourite watch indeed)

Tudor Black Bay 58

There are quite a few more but I don’t have first hand experience. But as you can see you have plenty of nice options!

Then look at the 1st sentence in my reply.

Add also the portofino:

Add to that also the more sporty 39mm AP 15202:

Welcome to the forum

Smallest Nautilus is 37mm.

Try Trusty Time (see item code PP0243A) as they've informed me that they are in stock.

Best of luck @WatchTime

It is not the diameter of the watch that measures "fit"...

Often the thickness, along with the lug to lug measurements play a part on how a watch look on a wrist...

Also, the lug shape, or curvature would make a watch look bigger or smaller than its listed diameter size...

The Breitling Galactic is actually quite nice!

Not sure how many TD's can source this though.

This*^^

36mm Rolex wear like big watches

I can wear a 45mm uboat can’t wear a 45mm omega.

Cartier Santos 100 with quick link bracelet is a great watch I believe they do smaller sizes

Yes, this is also true: the Rolexes wear bigger, the Omega 42mm wear smaller (for instance).
