Latest Purchase - JLC Odysseus With Stone Dial

Recommended Posts

Excited to share my latest purchase, a gen JLC Odysseus with an incredibly rare factory stone dial. This is one of only 3 I have ever seen and I just love how ahead of its time it was. As of more recent times, JLC have introduced the “Meteorite” dials which are of a very similar style.

I love the timeless design of the Odysseus, it reminds me of the old Patek 5035, (which is my all time favourite) At a much more reasonable price!

You don’t get much better bang for your buck that a vintage JLC.

This is the earlier model, featuring the Calibre 631 - a quartz movement with a mechanical chronograph developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Introduced in 1987, Calibre 631 was the second member in the Jaeger-LeCoultre Mechaquartz family after the Calibre 630. It is a complicated movement, with 25 jewels and 233 components.

Even with this, the Mechaquartz was much more compact than a conventional automatic chronograph movement.

All in all, a lovely investment which will get a wholeeeeeee bunch of wrist time!

Intresting

I remember a period when stone dials was the in thing, and there was a "cheaper" brand or Swatch class called Fossil.

Interesting! I had never seen them barr the newer models appearing in the last 3 years or so! I’ll have to do some googling.
