gtwc 1 Posted June 2, 2011 Can anyone help.....? Ska, are you out there? Whilst attempting a strap change on my Pam177L (new screws/tubes as well) the threaded section snapped off cleanly in one of the bottom lugs! There is obviously NO slot to try to turn a screwdriver, and being threaded a pin punch doesn't work either. Can anyone suggest a solution? I am left bereft with an unwearable watch. All suggestions / offers to faciltate repair (for payment obviously) gratefully rec'd. I am UK based. Thanks in advance............................... prestigewatchco 2 Posted June 2, 2011 Drill it out and get a set of spring bars is the easy way
trailboss99 997 Posted June 2, 2011 Yup, get it drilled out and use a set of the faux screw springbars the RWG shop sells. Bad luck mate, I'd say the bar had a defect. Col.
gtwc 1 Posted June 2, 2011 Thanls PWG & Trailboss, Ithinks that's the way to go.....'tho now the little fucker has upped & died on me ! I think all the 'graunching of the lug' has caused the A6497 to give up the ghost. I'm wondering if it's worth trying to get it fixed or to write it off (my newest watch and my only defect in some 10 reps) - also my favourite 'cos the the superlume. Shit, shit and treble shit. sfa437 0 Posted June 2, 2011 The H factory movements are absolute TRASH. Just did 3 movement swaps this past weekend- chance are it just crapped out and it was not your fault The lug screw thing is why I always hit the RWG shop the minute I get a new Panerai- if anything CAN break, I'll usually break it :sh_h:
Member X 91 Posted June 2, 2011 If it's new and two things have already gone wrong with it, is it worth asking for an exchange from the dealer?
gtwc 1 Posted June 2, 2011 If it's new and two things have already gone wrong with it, is it worth asking for an exchange from the dealer? not too sure....after all I attempted a strap change (done on all my other Pams, no probs) but either the thread drilled in the lugs was faulty, or my new screws were. The supposed 'bulletproof' 6497 probably didn't like being shaken - nothing appears to be loose (no rattles), so I think I just frightened it to death. I feel I would be pushing it to ask for an exchange.
