Ska's Custom Watch Project Update: 1st Dial Prototype

Love everything you're doing except one thing. I may get flame bashed, but I'll go ahead and step out and be the odd one to actually try and give some constructive criticism. In your drawing, the hands look very similar to bell & ross hands, is that what you were going for? It would be cool to see something different and unique with the hour and minute hands as this watch in general is already very unique, why not keep the theme going? Either way, looks gorgeous and would love to see the final results (hopefully sooner rather than later)

Cheers for that mate, don't worry you're not gonna be flamed for your opinions (by me anyway)

This was actually discussed in a previous thread.

The Bell & Ross hands which mine resemble (from the heritage) aren't in themselves unique. They are actually copies of standard Altimeter hands found in just about every aircraft cockpit. (unlike BR02 hands for instance which are unique to B&R).

Mine are based on the same design because a.) I thought it looked cool and hadn't seen the B&R heritage at the time. And b.) when people pointed out the similarity I thought it would be crap if Bell & Ross had exclusive rights to an existing design.

Finished the box design last night.

Graman's going to be providing the woodwork for this (so you can only imagine the quality!!

The inside will be furnished with a Custom cut foam rubber insert and laser engraved aluminium plate. The plate is removable and will reveal a compartment for the NATO strap and Allen Key which will be supplied with the watch.

The plaque on the top is an homage to Aviation ID Plates, a great Idea from Col. and will allow each box to be personalised to the customer and the watch inside it.

the catch is a simple pair of rare-earth magnets which should give the box a real quality feel!!

The strap arrived this morning, hooked it onto a sub to try it out.

Overall I think it's nice (for the price) but I'm not entirely sold. Its just the tiniest bit rattly. and actually not as good as most of the rep bracelets I've got.

What do you guys think? (Obviously imagine it with a pilot watch on the top!

The bracelet doesn't look too bad. Will it have end links though? I'm not a fan of SS bracelets without end links.

White everything (with blue lume) but red seconds hand, maybe?

I guess you could have options for buyers to make them a bit custom

Agreed - Red seconds hand looks very cool. Might have to try it out. (although I'll never hear the end of it from Mike!! :phone:)

Glad you like the ID plate, great suggestion mate. Really makes the box!!

I prefer more stealth look on a flight type watch.

However for originality I think an orange hand ala milgauss would look good.

Not 100% sold on that bracelet.

In my opinion I think NATO style is gonna look the biz.

I think it's clear the buyer needs to have options... ;)

You could provide both in the case? Would add a bit extra but a non-bracelet strap/nato should be quite cheap ;)
