JohnG 41 Posted July 2, 2009 may be you should consider actions coming from legal sources If you think a little about these forums like RG, RWI...etc, with raffles, rep watches sales, etc... and also Paypal system... "on the side" economy, black business, etc... this is a very big affair who generates dollars and could disturb some "good people and politics" who like pure gen watches, or, disturbs big luxurious busines cartel, like LVMH, Cartier, Rolex... Imagine some members on these forums - or here- who are just like spy, observing, writing, transmiting to local autorities... I can tell you a lot about this, sorry, I am paranoïd DOS attacks are illegal. A government, company, etc... has to go through legal channels.
sconehead 5 Posted July 2, 2009 Ahhh, but is it caused by a DOS attack...perhaps J-C and Sylar are currently spilling the beans to the authorities implicating all their Mods...isn't Dave a mod now?

onzenuub 308 Posted July 3, 2009 Post from Sylar on RWGcc Let me start off by saying its great to see you guys here still trecking on in the hobby and to thank RWG for having us here. I apoligize for the long downtime but DDOS is a nightmare. Unfortunately I dont have good news right now. We have tried several fixes hardware/software, which is why some saw the site restore intermitantly yesterday, but its just too big. This ddos is >100mbit and it is saturating everything we have tried so far. Somene went through a lot of trouble/time/expense/planning to generate this. We have some hardware on order from Cisco that will be delivered/installed/configured on Monday. We expect to be up Monday afternoon or ealry evening. At this point all I can do is wait till Monday. Enjoy the holiday weekend with family/friends and well see everyone next week. I am still reachable at [email protected] if anyone has any questions. Thanks for your understanding. greg_r 81 Posted July 3, 2009 100mbit DDoS? OUCH! That means that someone has probably paid a lot of money to access one of the big botnets (most of which are run out of .ru these days). Installing a Cisco XT5650 should solve it - and help to track down the source of the attack, but it's a seriously expensive solution (around $40k). If they're running on their own co-located server, though, there's not much choice. Odd, though - their service provider specialises in virtual private hosting, not co-lo. I wonder who RG could have pissed off THAT badly...

greg_r 81 Posted July 3, 2009 Nah - if it was TTK he'd have started the attack on Weds, but it wouldn't have arrived until sometime next century... :(
KBH 7 Posted July 3, 2009 I bet if you ask Austin Tech, he'll tell you Obama had something to do with it.

JohnG 41 Posted July 3, 2009 How about using a kind of cyber-reflector, that bounces the attack right back at the origin, but amplified like ten times, so that the hacker's computer just blows up and part of the disk platter penetrates his brain and makes him turn gay? Could they do that?
