I have owned this watch for about 10 months keeps really good time plus or minus a minute a month. Problem I have is the winder pin will not lock out almost as though the thread that locks the winder has lost it grip. Functions ok changing date and top up wind if needed. Is this something I can fix easily as have tools to remove back. Or is this something for a watch specialist.

I didn't understand the problem man. It doesn't screw down? It doesn't go from handwind to date to time settings? ...?

If it's the 1st one, then taking the stem out will not solve anything, as you probably have stripped down the threads (by the way the stem release pusher is the one next to "6" in C.62016, the small round hole on the external border of the movement).

Many thanks. Yes it changes date and winds ok just does not lock down. The thread you mentioned which might be damaged would a new winder pin fix this or something else that would need replacing. I tried the one next to the 6 earlier but must not of depressed enough and will try again

Ok, so there are 3 possibilities. Apart the fact that you should say "it doesn't screw-down" because there is no "lock down" and it may sound confusing :)

The 3 possibilities are the following:

1) You extract the crown and stem, check if (as it seems from your picture) the thread are in the inside part of the tube and, if so, SLIGHTLY pinch the tube in order to make it A BIT smaller, enough to permit the thread to catch up with the thread on the inside of the crown, but not too much to make the crown impossible to fit inside.

2) Replace the tube and crown, something for a watchmaker and probably it'll be nearly impossible to find the spares (I've seen some BP style crown on Ali, but who knows if they are compatible and threaded. And in any case they aren't IWC branded and they don't come with the tube.

3) Remove the crown and stem, glue the crown clutch, shorten the stem, in order to transform it into a push-pull crown type. Again something that if you're not familiar with watches you can make a mess...

Bye, Alex

Many thanks Alex. Will try. If not nick the watch repairer on here lives local to me so may drop into him and have it serviced and see if he can fix.

  STOP!!  The “experts” need to put their spectacles on and take off their dumbsss hats,

The tube has got stuck into the crown by the looks of it, it’s either friction fit or glued to the case and it’s come apart.

Take the stem out by pressing the button gently, separate the tube from the crown and glue it back into the case, let it dry and pop the stem back in.
voilá

im surprised that ginger dickhead isn’t here spouting his own brand of clueless cunt wisdom too.

best of luck

Have managed to remove pin. I guess the thread that you screw into to lock down is somewhere within the winding crown. There does not seem to be anything too obvious to be able to release pin from crown. Any ideas. Thanks ill post pic further down.

Just put the pin back in now not winding and watch has stopped. Think need to give to a watch specialist now.

The tube is still attached to the stem,  you need to unscrew it and glue it to the case.

Contact the member Rolie. He is in UK as you or there is also a TD who is a trusted tech in the TD list. If it's like PBR said here upper, he will be able to remove the tube from the crown and reglue it to the case, plus resetting the keyless (that you probably messed up trying to reinsert the stem in the wrong way...).

Help I have the same problem. The winder pin doesn’t screw down. Where can I buy the stem and crown to replace it? I’m in Los Angeles. Any watch repair shop recommendation? It’s my favorite IWC Big Pilot replica

Doing my normal thing and quickly scanning through this thread, I misread the title of the link.

I thought @BadApple had run out of patience nad was being sarcastic.

This is what I thought it said;

Trusty Time Watch Parts Department www.ttwats.com

It wasn't until I went back over it slowly that I realised this is actually a very useful resource.

Thanks Rob for the (unintended) entertainment.
