Leet1983 2,063 Posted October 1, 2020 Hi all, I'm after some advise, recently bought a vsf seamaster seems there a small amount of play in the bezel ,maybe me been extra fussy ,is there play in the gen bezel ?? I was going to try removing it and do the the cotton trick underneath. Any help would be appreciated
GingerApple 7,285 Posted October 1, 2020 Is the cotton trick like the dental floss trick? If so, you don't need to remove the bezel to do it, just slide the floss through the gap.
gooner2826 159 Posted October 1, 2020 Check out the dental floss one mate, doesn’t require taking the bezel off. Just pop it underneath, few spins and she will be good as gold - have done it to most of mine and really tightens it up
Leet1983 2,063 Posted October 1, 2020 Cheers lads I'll try dental floss as I tried cotton, the watch is fantastic just the play in the bezel let's it down a little
k4jun 251 Posted October 1, 2020 Gen are known to have a little bit of vertical play, if gen has a side-by-side play it means the spring is due for the service - replacement. I do have a history of various DIY removal tools, but eventually went for this one This is a rep/aftermarket of Omega 5100158 tool. They are on ebay for $80-90, various colours various prices, I went for cheapest yellow molds and couldn't be more happy. Molds are fine, this is neither plastic nor rubber and molds do have a little groove which technically lifts up the bezel for you when you press the tool.
Leet1983 2,063 Posted October 1, 2020 @k4jun thanks for the info the bezel movement is between 12-6 up/down maybe me been a bit fussy Thanks all
FudgyDocker 3,499 Posted October 1, 2020 The gen and the rep both have side to side and vertical play by a millimetre or so. You might be trying to fix a non-problem! Mine does as well, and I think you'll find that they all do.
