(Budget, kind of) 1675 GMT build

Recommended Posts

The 1675 is my favorite rep build due to the many variations of the genuine one and not to mention the correct hand stack on the reps. You can basically do it however you please. My good friend Pompompurin over at RWI listed just the case for sale but he offered if I want him to build it for me.  If you know him, he is very knowledgable and  is very particular about his builds.

And by budget, I mean in relative to building it with VN/Milk parts anyway.

Since there are so many variations, I opted with the MK1 Long 'E' dial with stubby-ish crown guards, this was the look had in mind:

One thing about me is I like the "overpolished" gen look instead of the forced old beat up look. To me it seems realistic that way, if you look at listings from Japanese auction sites, HQmilton etc. (Unless you're buying from Christies or Sotheby's of course ;) )

Specs as followed:

Reworked JKF/BP case with folded bracelet and thinned caseback
Faded stock insert (looks olive in some lights)
Vietnam Mark 1 Dial
Helenarou GMT handset
Hangzhou HZ6460 movement
Rafflestime long seconds hands
Rafflestime 5.3mm crown
Rafflesdial Open 6/9 DWO

Well built my friend. Mine says hello. Just got done building this over the weekend. Very similar specs like yours. 19de21c741067813eb002158238286b5.jpg211dec803311a8a03109c61f38f1c41a.jpga3d39565a6c5c7d98491a0750eba23f6.jpge3a5f155aad1c0f64154ef75e8dc6730.jpg

Very nice! Milk case set? I'm kind of digging the fat bezel letters. I might upgrade to this case down the road

Thank you. Yes once you get used to the milk case, there's no turning back. Built another for my friend. 2a60014bd3b8ccc199d90f0c2bda6985.jpg

Right back at ya. It's not easy to work the CGs on cartels like you did.

I just found out there is an Option to add metal to watch cases, id like to figure out how?

imagine u added metal to the CGs and „pressed and grinded“ them into shape.

the thickness could probably be modded with a slimmer caseback / movement.

Laser welding is commonly used to add extra steel to watch cases before grinding back.

I’m all for buying ridiculously expensive tools to play with, but even I’m left pausing for thought at the sound of welding with lasers. I’d probably end up cutting the house in half shortly before doing the same to the cat and then myself.

I’m pretty sure Adrian (ado213) over on RWI will do a bit of laser welding. He offered to fix up the dodgy case drilling he’d done on one of my reps, but I haven’t taken him up on the offer yet.
