Panerai PAM672 movement problem

Recommended Posts

dariohorvat88

Hello,

I bought a Panerai replica and the watch is not working as it should.

I have a few watches with this kind of movement and they are all ok.

When winded to maximum it only works a few hours. When I shake or just move watch a little bit, it starts working again.

Have anyone any idea, how to fix it? Is here in EU anyone, who will be prepare to fix it?

Thanks!2d78e3266cad2d938722952f57f4e6be.jpg

That is a basic 6497 movement.

They can be fixed, it might just be that the hands/dial at rubbing on the cannon pinion. especially as the movement is held in with a plastic ring looking at your photo. That has happened to me in the past.

But at the same time, a brand new 6497 clone movement can be had for around 35-40EUR from the likes of Aliexpress or Ebay.

Then a dial and hand swap is also easy, if you have the tools.

Ok. What about small seconds on 9h?

This model doesn't have small seconds.

Exist a6497 without small seconds module or you have to remove it later?

Odds are there's enough dial clearance to not even worry about it because it will not affect the running.

You can get the 6497 with or without sub seconds at 9.

You can also modify them to get rid if you want to.

I have Pam reps from Noob where you can see the factory have used a dremel to shorten the sub seconds pinion. Not advisable by some people, but it works all the same in most cases.

These are cheap movements, almost "disposable" in fact.

In fact, maybe the reason why the OP's watch is stopping, is because the sub seconds pinion is still present on his movement, and rubbing on the back of the dial?!

I'll agree with Simon that usually the issue. I've had that issue before myself.

The Chinese versions really are disposable.  The actual Swiss ETA movements not so much...  You can usually find a good running, recently serviced ETA movement for your watch between $100 - $200, if you look around.  You can get Chinese replacements on eBay for less than $60.

Thanks for all responds!

The seller will send another movement and I will try to replace it by myself.

I allready searched for Eta movements.
Do you have to replace the dial and the hands too or will it work with different movement?

Your dial and hands should fit any 6497 movement. Whether that is a Chinese clone, or the real thing.

Wouldn’t bother with ETA movement the Chinese version of this was is bloody great.

I’d agree to check there is no issue with the second hand pinion rubbing on the dial first. Worst comes to worst just swap it with a new movement.

You can also just trim the seconds hand on your current movement. Recommended even by eta to service movement before use.
