The Bezel really lifts it The 6542 case is 38mm, so yes, a little smaller than the later Oyster tool watch cases. I love these Bakelite/plastic inserts, but they were prone to cracking (surprise!) and were replaced by aluminium ones as the production run of the 6542 came to an end. Regarding all the Navitimer chatter going on this morning... I had a rep and owned it for as long as it took to unbox it, take some pics and get it sold again. The massive amount of tiny, tiny numbering on the dial looks (to my eye) absolutely hilarious in real life when viewed at normal size, rather than massively blown up in a wristie pic - where it does tend to look rather attractive and purposeful. How anyone is ever expected to use the thing seriously, without placing it under a microscope or using a 100x loupe, is beyond me. Ridiculous. It gave me a migraine just glancing at it. mclarendude 8,008 Posted February 16, 2021 Nice one! I have a friend who says this blows a tudor BB 58 out of water under the loupe. I smell bias, whats your take? Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using TapatalkWell, for the money it can be had for, even in the second hand market (as I did), I would agree with your friend. These are going for around $2k brand new. I bought mine with a year of use and just serviced for $1200. The quality is above and beyond my other similarly priced gens. SCShrek 494 Posted February 16, 2021 5 hours ago, Popperini said: It's the original Pepsi blue/red colouring - but the blue on this insert is really dark, and the red is... bricky - which is how a lot of the Bakelite 6542 vintage inserts look. As such, the colouring does look quite similar to the modern GMT Root Beer ceramic insert. But the vintage 1675 Root Beer had a gold/red insert and a brown dial, which looks very different. I'm always on the lookout for a rep of the vintage one - they don't make 'em any more. You mean this? This one's a cheapie. Yuki dial, Clark insert and cartel base.
