Grand Seiko, the rep?

Recommended Posts

Is it just me, or are the Grand Seiko watches not replicated?
I have not seen a single one.

Thanks.
It's been a while, since i last tryed.
But my goal was, to have a rep, that isn't obvious.
Something that's not a common watch where i live, and not would be totally out of my price range.

But the one from high luxury store, looks promising.
Do anyone have experience with the dealer?

Disregard those links. Only wish has GS reps, they are something like $50 and they are accurate at a level of $50 rep, ergo andswering your op - there are no decent reps of GS.

Yes and no, as there are fakes. Unfortunately they are all cheapies. Nothing of say an ARF or VSF standard unfortunately. You’ll find them on the usual Chinese market websites.

Never say never though as they gain more popularity, which they have been doing loads. We may see some high tier reps

I like that GS has yet to have any 'quality' reps it has only taken off in the past couple years and you can still get good vintage ones for a good price. No doubt when there is enough demand for it they will start making them in droves.

I wonder if the zaratsu polishing will be hard to replicate?

I absolutely love Grand Seikos. When you see one they just ooze quality. Having said that I just googled Grand Seiko and then the shopping tab. Wish are knocking them out for $50. Can’t promise that the Wish ones will ooze a great deal of quality though!

The dials, hands and overall finish would be hard to replicate. They could get close, but the real thing is hand finished and while it would look good from an arms length, it would be a bit of a dogs dinner up close.

Yea those are ugly fuckers aren't they.

Given the magic which noob/vsf can do to reps of top swiss brands - I am sure the makers could nail GS too, but apparently they don't want it yet.

The factories could indeed get 99% of the way there with certain models, but it comes apart at the macro end with these type of watches.

This level of finishing can only be achieved by hand, and it takes time (hence cost, which is still very reasonable for what you are getting). If it’s just the look that people want, decent reps could be made. If they want a Grand Seiko level of finishing, they need to buy a GS...

Gotta agree with fox. GS is all about the exquisite detail in the fine points. I’m mesmerised looking at them up close.
Swiss watches at twice the price don’t come close to this level of detail. I can’t imagine anyone replicating the magic at 1/20th of the cost.

Glad to see people are on the GS and the value they are. I've been rocking a Gen (Quartz) one for the past few years, gotta save for that snowflake.

I think it is only a matter of time before they cash in on the demand. Whilst I agree with @Flinnt they have to start somewhere like they did with the Swiss brands. I am sure it will be a NOOB/ARF/VSF etc V7 GS  before it even gets close.

I like the Seiko/GS branding (before GS branched off into it’s own thing). It’s even more “under the radar”.

Yup agree! I think GS appeal is the subtlety,  how every aspect of their design sneaks up on you and surprises you with just an overall satisfying watch,  in feeling and aesthetic.
