Vintage Seikos's Tuna's

Recommended Posts

I have been collecting and some what restoring vintage Seikos mostly dive watches. Its what got me hooked on watches. It's an expensive hobby.

Now find this, place down the rabbit hole I go.

Anyone else like the Seiko Tuna's? This is a 7549 built from parts, it was a basket case. All parts are genuine Seiko. I like it.

Very nice!  How do you know parts are genuine Seiko?    I see so many parts for sale on Ali, ebay and the gate.

I like all Seikos, not just Tunas.

The day wheel on your watch looks like it requires a minor adjustment, upwards.

I look forward to seeing more of your builds.

Very nice work, mate. I like the Tuna too. It's an absolutely iconic piece. I recently realised it was even featured in James Bond“A View to a Kill”!

I was thinking of building the skx based mod. What I love about it that it looks bulletproof. I would be worn in situations in which I would never wear any of my reps. Just need something that can take a beating and has easily replaceable parts. Tuna looks like a perfect piece for this kind of purposes.

The Tuna stacks up against the very best divers of all time IMO. The case build and shroud design was ground-breaking, enabling it to reach new depths with practical and safe operation. I love the patina-ridden originals.
