Am I the only one who buys a rep to protect my gens and then buys a cheap gen to protect the rep ?

Own this:

I'll have you know I was the third cleverest boy in my village primary school class!

Of seven.

Including four girls.

are you suggesting your female colleagues were less clever due to their being female?

Oh Jesus, you two are slower than me!

I was saying I was the third cleverest boy. In a small class where there were only 7 pupils, 4 of whom were girls - hinting that I might therefore be the most stupid.

Facking hell boys, would it help if I drew you a diagram.

I buy reps so I don't have to buy gens. I buy cheap gens because of @cvp3 evil posts.

As impeccably demonstrated in this thread, the problem with an open mind is people insist on coming along and putting stuff in it.

Isn't Oil filling better for quartz movements as there are no moving parts to get in the way of liquid resistance issues?

regarding the He valve, what's the best way of sealing it up, epoxy?

When my Pelagos arrives (as per Abe's mate) I intend on taking the movement out to test the pressure resistance, clean up the threads and re-greese the seals, seal the He valve and see it if can handle preferably 10ATM pressure. Not that I'll take it down that far but for piece of mind when I'm in the shower, doing dishes and casual swimming. Nothing more embarrassing that having a rep diver watch with a fogged crystal.

Can't oil fill a mechanical. Well, you could, but it wouldn't run.

I nearly bought one of these a few months ago. Glad I didn't, it's one of them watches that the novelty factor would wear off quickly for me I think.

I think they're pretty cool (nicer than the Ressence ones imo and a lot cheaper), but I just don't like the air bubble thing they have - it looks more like a mistake rather than a design imperative imo.

Handy for when you're putting up shelves though.
