au_gold 1 Posted June 11, 2021 I thought I would drop in and say hi. I got into watches via the fountain pen world and appreciation of the craftsmanship and histories behind both. I have several watches that I have very much enjoyed: a Seiko SARB017 (the famous green alpinist), a SARB035 (the ever popular off-white dress watch with a casual resemblance to the Oyster Perpetual), and a Steinhart Ocean 39 Explorer. All of them have given me joy in ownership in different ways and each gets about equal wrist time according to my mood. At this point, I am contemplating more expensive watch purchases and I am looking to the world of replicas to get a sense of what the fit and feeling of ownership is with several pieces that I am interested in test driving: the Rolex Explorer 39 mm; Oyster Perpetual 39; and Tudor Black Bay. I have spent a number of hours reading over different parts of this forum and have really enjoyed the insights in this "industry" and hobby and especially how folks have franken-built their watches.
