That’s part of the ritual I don’t use winders. An extremely enjoyable part of my morning routine is selecting a watch and setting the time to my atomic clock along with the particular complications the daily watch has.

I am wondering if keeping the mainspring constantly wound up is actually good for the movement. I suppose if I had a 100k Patek Perpetual it will be a different story. ... There are 2 separate camps on using a winder. Other than the obvious convenience for some. One side says it keeps oils from thickening, the other say’s other than the convenience of grab, place it on the wrist and go, nothing is gained. My camp is the second, nothing gained. This is from my own experience collecting and maintaining collection of 54 gens to date, vintage and modern. With today’s modern lubricants, “ gumming up the works” is not likely. My vintage watches are manual wind and even a few autos that have all original parts are too delicate for a winder. What I do is go over each watch every other month to wipe, set and wind. NOT fully wind, but enough to get her going. Sometimes I’ll give a full wind and have a look see on my timegrapher focusing on amplitude. A PP, hmm. Been thinking about a PP but not yet. I don’t own one.
