sbrown85 24 Posted February 24, 2022 Hello everyone, Its been a while since I have posted but I figured this was a good a time as any. I had purchased a Seiko SKX009 from here in 2014. I wore it off and on and finally decided it was time to change it up. I wanted to change the general look of the watch. I was able to locate a new ceramic bezel insert, sapphire crystal with blue AR, and a different dial from a Seiko Prospect. I save the original parts if I ever wanted to put it back to stock, but I am really enjoying how it came out. Let me know what you think. sbrown85 24 Posted February 25, 2022 It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. I have been wanting to do something like this for some time, but was nervous. Having the right tools and watching someone else do it first was very helpful. My next step is to grab a cheap movement, disassemble, then reassemble to see if it still works. sbrown85 24 Posted February 25, 2022 I have a basic watch repair set that you can get off of amazon. Precision screw driver set, case back tool, watch press, hand removal and installation tools. The dial had a four posts. Two of them need to be removed and a file used to smooth the nubs down. I used a small pair of side angle cutters and small file that came with the kit. The bezel insert is adhered to the bezel with compound cement/rubber cement. There is a bezel tool that gets used to remove it from the watch. Using a flat pick to start work around the bezel to loosen it up. From there a small knife or razor can be used to separate it from bezel. Alcohol or a gentle cleaner can be used to remove the remaining adhesive. I would recommend watching videos on crystal replacement. Different crystals are removed different ways.
