Wiz 0 Posted June 29, 2011 Some time ago mspangl sent me some gen Omega parts so I could assemble a watch for him. It was supposed to be a simple assembly job, but it quickly turned into a much more complicated project. Here are the parts I received: - Gen dial, - Gen hands, - Gen caseset, - Gen Caliber 565. First, the movement arrived with issues, so I had to bring it to my watchsmith here before starting the assembly. The dial was very nice, and the install went alright. The dial feet are secured by 2 screws on the side of the movement. You can see the hole for one of the screws on the following pic. But soon I encountered a new problem: the minutes and second hands wouldn't fit. First we just thought these were the wrong hands, so we ordered a new set, but even the right hands wouldn't fit. In the end I had to ask my watchsmith to widden the cannon of the hands, since at the time I didn't owned the right tools. After a while I also realized the stem was too short, so we ordered a new stem, but it wouldn't fit either, so we had to come to the conclusion that there was something wrong with the movement. After some researches I learnt that in the 70's and 80's Omega was quite familliar with making undocumented changes to their movements and watches, so I guess this movement is most likely an old version of the Calibre 565 with different specs. Little Omega sign engraved in the center of the crystal. Done! Pressure test. Incredible lume!! Thanks for watching! :yoda:
