Where can i find......

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm trying to source a strap for THIS WATCH.

My father owns the watch, he has had it from new in the 60's, but, after years of loving wear, somehow the strap was misplaced, probably damaged and discarded (SHAME ON HIM).

Anyhow, he's 65 soon, and i'm keen to try and source either a genuine or a replica strap, as per the link above, so the watch becomes 'whole' again.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

L

Are you looking for a strap that would replace the original bracelet? Or are you looking for a new bracelet? These are 2 different things.

For beautiful custom leather straps, you can reach out to @TanGo.

For the exact replica of the original bracelet - no idea. I haven't seen these getting repped.

If you want it gen, it will be nearly impossible to find and surely expensive...

If you are ok with an aftermarket one, they are easy to find, check out on AliExpress with either "milanese mesh bracelet" or "shark mesh bracelet". You'll need to know the lug size width (measure A below) in order to get the one that fits the watch.

You're only going to find a similar looking bracelet, not an original This is a picture of a NOS Chronostop, and you'll see that the Milanese bracelet is fitted around the case and lugs. I would say that's virtually impossible to find. It looks as if the lug width is 18mm, and it uses an original Omega clasp no 27, if that helps your search.

as opposed to...? Sorry, it's a whole new world to me.

Is this a non standard type of fitting?

This is the actual watch we are trying to fit https://1drv.ms/u/s!AmP44sQNzWkwiMoUoHPo_6VeP5baaQ?e=tanQ5I

The advise and responses so far, are gratefully recieved - i would also consider buying a NOS, or used watch that was the same, and using it for it's bracelet alone. I'd get an aftermarket strap for that one, so again if anyone knows where that might be possible (even if it isn't 'sensible'), then i'd be grateful.

Thank you all for your help so far.

The NOS watch was £2k in Chrono24, so a bit much for just a bracelet. You may find others...

The aftermarket ones would look like this vvvvv, so yes. It is out of the ordinary/not standard for a Milanese bracelet.

Fudgy Docker,

That actually looks pretty good - I don't mind it, and nor would Dad.

Is this the sort of bracelet i'll find by searching Ali Express for Milenese etc, do they normally come with the 'pins' for fitting?

Thanks again all, truly, grateful.

Yes, and yes.

If you search with "Omega 18mm Milanese", some of them will even come with an Omega logo on the clasp, if you search through them. Look for one that offers "with logo" and mentions Omega in the description. They obviously can't show the logo in the pictures!

There are also those that will not show the final part, you'll need to put the springbars (these https://www.crownandbuckle.com/spring-bars-18mm.html ) into the final rings of the bracelet.

For example: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33062127996.html

Possible problem is that you may need to cut away some of the rings if it's too long (you'll need a dremel and a cutting disk) because the amount of regulation in the clasp isn't that big.

While with these you have much more regulations: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003326060468.html as you can move the part without the clasp as you prefer inside the clasp.

But remember to get the lug width correct first.
