Round vs Rectangular Cases

Recommended Posts

I recall when I got a Cartier rep (a Tank or a Santos)  a number of years ago it was just too big for my wrist and I got rid of it,  even though the stated dimensions were not that great. So, I realized that square or rectangular cases wear bigger than round ones with same dimensions.  I have a 7” wrist and prefer watches that are 40-42mm round. So, can any of you math whizzes tell me what size range  a comparable square or rectangular watch might be?  I’m looking at a couple of  rectangular gens and I don’t want a big hunk of steel on my wrist.
Thanks.
