Panerai

The Science Channel had a show on the making of watches. The brand selected is Panerai.

Apologies in advance for poor video quality. Recorded using a Galaxy Tab, because I have no idea how to export it from a DVR.

Hope you find it interesting.

Maybe they mount the crystal this method only for video purposes to confuse H company ;)

Very cool find!

Lots of machines involved, which is a good thing for precision, especially in regards to water resistance.

I like Panerai a little more now because they weren't too snooty about letting someone film their manufacturing process. And damn those 328's are classy.

I like that machine for hands ! Also Oris has the same ! You can see on video if the hands are not catching. Maybe a great mod I will do at home with spare camera.. I will make me an program with overlay and I will see if the hands have optimum space between them ! :q5:

Nice video. Clear enough. Looks like the precision is computer-generated.

Wonder how it's done in China? Probably all manual labor.

Labor costs are high in Switzerland (Italy for Pam?). But the mark up must be huge, too.
