CF Rolex 126610LN - stopped working

Recommended Posts

Hi all - need some help!

Bought this a couple months back and sadly it's stopped working.

I've managed to get the back off to see if there was anything obvious but I can't see anything with my untrained eye.

any advice?

Why is the crown in the setting position? It won't run in that setting.

I don't think it is. It's just unscrewed.

OP: that hairspring looks really bad... Totally not concentric...

It should look like this:

Yours looks like this:

If I see correctly it's that way because the end of the hairpring got unglued from the hairspring stud. It happens on these fuckers, it happened to me too because the glue they use is so poor that even a simple bath in isopropyl alcohol melt that glue...

See (note the "should end in here" means in the bottom/lower part of that stud):

The solution is pretty simple IF YOU KNOW HOW TO HANDLE AN HAIRPRING (which is the most delicate piece of the entire watch): remove the balance bridge together with the balance (and specific care should be applied because there is the need to lift both the balance and the bridge, since the balance now isn't attached to it anymore) put both upside down on a surface and with a oiler put the tinyest but sufficient amount of proper glue in the hairpring stud and put the end of the hairpring back in place (of course the hairpring should also pass through the regulator and be straight, not inclined or something). Wait the glue to solidify and put all back together.

Do NOT touch that hairpring unless you're a really trained watchmaker (and you wouldn't be here if so), because it's SUPER easy to mangle it and destroy the movement...

Just find someone that is willing to check it...

should be a quick fix for a watchmaker.

in my personal experience, most really most if not just any free non AD Watchmakers will fix your watch.

they just see it as Job that pays the Bills

Wow - love this forum - this is really helpful. Thank you for responding!!

Per my title, I am indeed a newbie and not a trained watchmaker.

So I will be searching for a local repair shop to get this resolved :D

If anyone has any recommendations let me know!

@ROLIE is the man. If he can't fix it, nobody can.
