drpc713 0 Posted July 5, 2011 hey guys noob here... Been admiring gen watches for years and want to start a collection of some reps. I'm a big fan of hubolt, IWC, Jaeger, Frank Muller however I'm super scared on the look to good to be true deal.. I've read through alot of the rules for buying on here but dont know the threshold of when things are just junk. Is the 88-130 dollar range a reliable and good looking watch, or do I need to spen $250+ on everything I want Thank for the help folks
greg_r 83 Posted July 5, 2011 Welcome to RWG! Ultimately, you get what you pay for. You CAN pick up a very respectable watch in the $100 range, but you need to be fairly picky about what you buy. There are some great quartz chrono reps around that price and some good basic mechanical watches too (Rolex, Panerai). Likewise a good FM Crazy Hours can be had in the $150 region. All in all it depends on the watch in question. $200 - $400 is the range that most of the top class reps fall into. Have a good read of the board and if in doubt about a particular model, ask questions

greg_r 83 Posted July 5, 2011 hmm - the JLC is a bit of a dog's breakfast, but the IWC looks decent for the money, yes.
