Help identifying movement

Recommended Posts

Dommysam

Hi all, I wonder if anyone is clever enough to help identify the movement in my (I think) V6 no-date Sub rep.

It’s broken and before I consider getting it fixed I thought I’d see whether it’s a cheap Chinese movement. If so I’d rather buy a replacement and swap it over - bit of a project.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Aliexpress. Search on 2824 or Sw200 movements.

Wait!

It may well be a 2836, not a 2824! Normally Noobs use the 1st one not the 2824.

You should take a pic of the movement under the dial to be sure.

This is a 2836:

And this is a 2824:

From behind they look the same, but their stem height is different and the date wheel isn't compatible.

A quick way to tell is: when you rotate the crown through 360, how far does the minute hand move? If 90 mins, then you have a 21J or 2813; if 45-60 mins, you have a 2836/2824.

Turn hands until the date flips

Then backward to 8:00

Then forward

If date flips its 2824

Doesn’t flip then its 2836
