ReplicaFromDownunder 2 Posted July 17, 2011 Purchased this from a trustworthy dealer on this forum. However, I want to confirm this is Swiss ETA and not asian 2836 as I paid $278.00 for this Rolex Deepsea Dweller. Any advice appericated. I have no way of telling. Its super smooth sweep... thanks RWG friends
houndoggie 58 Posted July 17, 2011 Your rotor is covering up anything which would help.

prestigewatchco 2 Posted July 17, 2011 Impossible to tell without stripping it down best advise is buy the clone and not pay premium for swiss as the clones are so close now need to strip them to tell. Only pay premium for Stwlita sw200 if you want Swiss Don't know if it's your pictures or not but that movement looks tired or refurbished
sconehead 5 Posted July 17, 2011 Looking at the balance jewel retainer, it only has one cutout...gen ETA movements have three...I'd say it's a clone...
Silverspeed 10 Posted July 17, 2011 +1 looks like a clone movement.....and it looks old and dirty
Drhulee 0 Posted July 17, 2011 I've got a couple of ETA 2836-2 movements, and they are identical to this one, except my cogs are a lot cleaner :P
Drhulee 0 Posted July 17, 2011 @djprone, you're right, didn't notice that - mine has three cutouts there. Base plate looks gen though. So it may be a hybrid. EDIT: Oops, just noticed monkey boy mentioned the three cutouts as well. Meh, what do you expect on a Sunday morning
WatchMe007 0 Posted July 17, 2011 Clearly a hybrid consisting of Swiss ETA parts manufactured in China and assembled in Switzerland by Wei Ling Schmidt, a blonde, blue eyed Asian woman. You can tell by the cut outs.

Archaon 4 Posted July 26, 2011 Not an expert but i have a genuine ETA2842(On my swatch) it is only 21 J. But it has the same piece that is circled in red with only one cut out... Couldnt take a decent pic because my camera is down but can post later if needed. Archi

flottiglia 0 Posted July 26, 2011 I'd hazard a guess at a reclaimed gen.The screws look to have seen some action, might just be the photo though..
