It's never a shit-storm if you couldn't give a toss about being in the epicentre. Now a turd-tornado - that's something to watch out for. For 17 years I ran a large caravan site in Essex, and had regular face-offs with travellers trying to get in. Should have written it as quick caseback-greaser and it would have been more obvious. (having said that, I've never greased a caseback. Only ever done the o-ring.) Basically a sponge impregnated in silicone grease. You can lay the o-ring on top of the main sponge and gently press it with the sponge built into the lid to get an even, light coating.
