robertkee 0 Posted April 28 Hello, An automatic watch is self winding as it uses the kinetic force to wind itself while you wear the watch. If you take it off for an extended period, it will stop ticking as a result of not wearing it. Correct? Once you are ready to start wearing the watch again, one can simply move the watch side to side to have the internal components wind the watch to life, adjust date/time, and then wear again. Thus repeating the self winding cycle. Correct? If this is the case, my Seiko SNZH53 just stopped working. Which if all of the above is true, is probably not a good thing. I’ve tried to revive it by doing the side to side in an arch pattern movement as described in the manual, but it wont start ticking. Is this normal? Is there anything else to try? BadApple 14,952 Posted April 28 It needs winding up. No watch is fully automatic. If you don't use it it will discharge. The rotor mechanism only means you don't need to wind it when wearing. It is a top up only. Unscrew the crown and wind 20-30 times. https://youtu.be/eX820pdGfgc?si=SIJHkZjHHlJYUCwS
Foxindebox 575 Posted April 28 Tbh I think it has a 7S movement ant therefore no hand-winding. Give it a good slap against your palm and wear for 30min or so whilst you are active. Otherwise, it’ll mean a service or movement swap to a 4R with hand-winding.

I believe that model winds, at least according to THE GOOGLE.
