OLDBLOKE74 10,311 Posted May 9 @MAJ75 1997 Chronomaster Zenith El Primero E 30.0240.400/01 18kYellow Gold 40mm. The gold is chunky and heavy so it feels really solid. The El Primero movement is arguably the first proper automatic chrono movement. “Operating at 36,000 vibrations/hours, the seconds hand of El Primero performs 10 jumps per second – meaning that it has the ability to measure a tenth of a second. Finally, the seconds hand of the chronograph sweeps smoothly and is an evidence of the superb engine inside the case.” The Primero engine was used in some earlier Rolex Daytonas and generally accepted to be a far superior movement than the ‘tona. I am a bit of an anorak collector, I have two Primeros and a Daytona. the Zenith is a better watch for 20% of the price, However the Daytona is probably the best watch investment I have made over the years. My watch collection was supposed to be part of my pension, but I hope I never have to sell this one. Anyway if I drop dead the fam can probably avoid inheritance tax. Burglars please note I don’t keep them in the house ! Anybody still awake ?
