My Gen OMEGA SPEEDMASTER 3513.50 (with black bezel instead of silver)

Recommended Posts

This is my "wedding watch", a present from my wife.

I had the silver bezel changed to a black one after I had to get the whole watch rebuilt after some chlorinated pool water killed it. The total repair was $1200. Notice how the asshats at the Authorized Omega Service Center couldn't get the bezel aligned correctly after 3 tries.

Very nice. The gen Speedy is my grail watch. It was the ads for these in National Geo all those years ago that got me interested in watches as a young lad.

BTW, I now hate you! :D

They sent back all the old parts at my request (old bezel with old insert, old crown, old pushers, old dial, old hands, and old crystal). I popped the logo off the old dial and sold it for $10. So, luckly, that went to defray the costs of the repair... net $1190!

I am currently looking for a gen Omega.

It's either this or the Seamaster GMT with the black/silver bezel.

Beautiful watch.

HD,

nice watch :D

how many years out of warranty was it?

Wondering if it would economically viable to go to an 'independant' watchsmith if you find one that is skilled in gen Omegas?

Cheers

Just a couple months out of warranty. Omega wouldn't budge.... I got a little heated with them over it. But I didn't have a trusted watch guy then as I do now. Plus, also didn't have to replace the bezel, crown, and pushers, I just thought why not get a brand new watch back.
