Del 4,501 Posted July 29, 2011 I stumbled across this pic of a gen SuperOcean II Abyss, which is the same colour version as my rep, so thought I'd post it to show the comparison - just for some fun. Tbh, I'm struggling to find any significant differences. I think the gen hour markers and bezel numbers have sharper "points" on the edges and the gen crown has a sharper "step down" on it but I'm not going to lose any sleep over these things! The numerals on the bezel look a fraction chunkier on the rep too. Very little in it though. Overall, not quite a super rep, but pretty darned close. The v2 Mare Nostrum is probably up there too (the only thing wrong with the first version was the bezel edge and they've fixed that). I guess it depends on how we define "super rep" - there's a lot of good stuff out there with just minor imperfections that nobody is going to notice without a direct comparison (such as the watch in this thread). Del 4,501 Posted July 29, 2011 Thanks greg for sorting out the pics! And yes, I see what you mean about the minute "ticks". I think the bezel numbers are not just as "sharp" which gives the impression of them being slightly chunkier. As for the AR, it is very good imho (but not Seawolf quality). It has a very slight blue tinge to it in certain lights (probably not gen-like but I can't confirm that) but it is still very effective - partly shown in my pic below. As for the lume, it is better than average for sure but certainly not superlume quality. This pic was taken rather hurriedly and without much charge to the lume but you'll get the idea. Interestingly, the hands and lume dots are way better than the 6, 9 and 12 hour markers! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
