sdiver 0 Posted August 2, 2011 Hi guys, As new to the auto movements I have question for the pro here. I got Omega Seamaster 300M Pro, Chrono with New Asia Valjoux 7750 and on the way Rolex DSSD with Clone ETA - both from Mary. I know that auto movements need service from time to time - How I know its the time to do it and where I can do it. Tried to ask some local watchmakers and I got "We don’t not deal with Replica watches !" Damn

chum_2000_uk 0 Posted August 2, 2011 If you like the watches and you think they are worth it, get them serviced as soon as you can.... Very often they are not oiled properly from the factories. If you are not 100% sure you want to spend the money servicing them, then don't, but bare in mind that they could potentially be more likely to have problems sooner if not serviced. Use the search function mate, servicing has been talked about extensively in the past, but that's the long and short of it.
chum_2000_uk 0 Posted August 2, 2011 Oh and where to get them serviced? It would help if you told us where you are based!?
greg_r 81 Posted August 2, 2011 +1 @ Greenhat You will need to find a rep-friendly watchsmith (or use one of the guys on the boards - there's Mike McNair here, Domi on RWI and several other guys too - all depends on where you are). In theory a mechanical watch should be serviced every 3-5 years (gen or rep). In practice I tend to go along with Greenhat. I get mine looked at when they go wrong. On the other hand, some guys get their watches serviced soon after purchase and then regularly from then on. That's probably worthwhile with some of the really upmarket models but less so with the run of the mill stuff...
Frankt8242 1 Posted August 3, 2011 Wear it until if breaks....Then toss it!!....It's usually cheaper to replace it than to service most reps...
sdiver 0 Posted August 3, 2011 Depeands how long it's gonna stay alive... We are not talking on 100$ watches
omni 6 Posted August 3, 2011 If its a super rep over or close to $500, service it when it breaks, anything less than that since its not a gen., service it when it breaks. I don't believe in servicing unless its wonky from the start and you intend to keep it for 10 years (most unlikely). However, you are in Isreal, that should be a no brainer. You could get a street vendor to do it cheaper than we could.
Demsey 9 Posted August 3, 2011 Where is this magical country Isreal of which you all speak? I'm with Frank. When it stops, throw it down in a poker game. My longest lasting replica is eight years old. 2836 Sub that ran fast for the first four years, hit it's stride COSC in '08 and now it is slowing down. If I get a decade out of this thing? Winning. Big. Most dealers do what these days? Offer an inferred warranty for 60-90 days for a chronometer? If you make it past that mark with a Swiss ETA movement you're gold. Do they even do Swiss ETA anymore in replica watches? Complications are the Sirens who would take down Ulysses. *AVOID*
wat44 0 Posted August 3, 2011 depends on mvt if ETA, then parts are OK if Asian7750 - buy new mvt when it breaks if A21j, again cheaper to buy new mvt
sdiver 0 Posted August 3, 2011 As mention: Valjoux 7750 and Clone ETA
