JohnG 41 Posted July 28, 2009 Fairy nuff At that price you can probably afford to have a go at reluming yourself! I want to take a watch apart and get some confidence doing it but looking at the list of things you need in the other thread, it'll cost loads... lol No, go to ebay stuff is cheap there. The Chinese don't just make watches you know, they make tools too!

greg_r 82 Posted July 30, 2009 Okay, time for a HD watch count: How many dude? Just say it. The number. Oh man that's mean. I made the mistake of having a count up last night and it was scaaaaaaaary. I didn't even include the three watches that I have in my spares box...

houndoggie 58 Posted July 30, 2009 yea, the 24mm lugs are nice - I think it would look good on some fat leather but not exactly what I had in mind. I wanted this one for hunting, fishing, etc. I don't now how well the 2824-2 holds up to firearm recoil (maybe someone can enlighten me) but for $100, I'll test it out. Most of the shock goes into my right hand while the watch is on the left (mainly for support) that's why I thought about kevlar, seems appropriate and I think it's water proof... maybe Nato is the way to go?? idk, here's some pics - I'm sure I'll order a bunch of straps that will look like crap once paired up - we should post pics of the ones we never use, might be the perfect fit for someone else. ok then, some pics for shits and giggles: A Ruhla in the alphakazi arsenal copper bracelet? ETA 2824-2 how did I miss this... Sweet, I love it! Did you say you only paid $100 for it???
alphakazi 0 Posted July 30, 2009 got in a sterile Bigbang today from a new dealer I found on pmwf (burgeon) and I'm as happy as a pig in mud - the build quality leaves little to be desired @ $75 shipped - he has different stuff coming in - you can see his photobucket here : http://s633.photobucket.com/albums/uu52/jovanywatch/ but it's incomplete atm. 42mm bezel, 49mm width including crown - 130gr - rose gold plated - brand is Jovany but I see Hublot also printed on the back of the strap obviously using rep parts - the rubber strap is the stiffer older stuff but I have no complaints. The deployment doesn't chaff. It uses a 21Junker movement but keeps good time and feels smooth when setting and manually winding - overall I'm happy with the watch and dealing with bergeon - I'll be trying some of his other stuff
alphakazi 0 Posted July 30, 2009 how did I miss this... Sweet, I love it! Did you say you only paid $100 for it??? yep, I have John to thank for that beaut - he posted it one day and I fell for it - went nuts trying to find one - commonly sold around the $300 mark, I placed my max bid @ $150 and won it @ an even $

At least now I can see pics of it.....

houndoggie 58 Posted August 24, 2009 I am gonna burn up this thread for the next few weeks.... Got my $67 Golana GMT from the watchery today (the bing.com promotion) Swiss quartz GMT movement, Sapphire crystal, very well made. 44.80mm with crown wears nicely. Pretty good lume (lume shot later)
AustinTech 0 Posted August 24, 2009 Nice, HD. I think I'm going to get one of those for my Dad. He does international travel a lot and could use a GMT hand. Hell even when he is in the States his co-workers aren't. And it's quartz...he hates setting the time on autos. Hummmm Christmas isn't far away...

houndoggie 58 Posted August 25, 2009 Hamiltion Khaki Navy with ETA 2824 ($157 shipped) Impressions: 1. Nice build, good movement, inner bezel functions smoothly 2. strap sucks. It is a lint magnet and doesn't flex nicely.. no matter, I'll put it on something else. 3. Really nice lume. 4. Sapphire crystal and caseback. 5. 40mm case (44mm with crowns) is not as big as I would like, but it doesn't look too small either. 6. Will make a good go to watch for the beach.
