Cynikal.Mindset 1 Posted August 13, 2011 So, I got my UN MMD white dimple face earlier this week and I noticed the dial wasn't as white as it should be. The QC pics showed it being white but off white balance from the camera used lied. I decided to uncase the movement and see if the dial really was as gold as it looked and it wasn't it was the blasted AR! I got some diamond cutting paste from the detail bay here at work and went to work using nothing but elbow grease and time to spare! here we can see the yellow tinge the sapphire has with the doube sided AR...GROSS!! naked dial is much more white outside of the case See, look how much the colour changes when in the case...sooooo yellow!!! Here the outer AR has been removed. It's better but not yet good enough. Now, both inner and outer AR has been removed. Looks much better! Everything back together, o-rings and seals lubed...looks FRESH!! Mind you, the Rep dial isn't as bright silvery/white like the gen but this mod made a huge difference in the appearance of the watch. I hope this helps anybody that has the same issue cuz it bothered the hell outta me for the past few days. Oh, thanks to Kenny on figuring out how to remove the stem from this movement otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do this.
Balad1 0 Posted August 13, 2011 Open question to anyone; are the AR finishes always on the inside of the crystal?
Ska 11 Posted August 13, 2011 No - as stated above this one had Double AR on both sides of the crystal. Single AR is generally applied only to the inside however so you're right in that sense.
KeNnY 29 Posted August 13, 2011 Open question to anyone; are the AR finishes always on the inside of the crystal? sometimes when you have AR on top, you can easily scratch it, creating not that nice look

Thanks, I skimmed through the OP mainly looking at the before and after pics and didn't read carefully. Nice watch; one on my list.
darkgunslinger 0 Posted January 4, 2012 Looks a LOT better I have to agree! Excuse me for my ignorance, but did you have to pop the crystal off to remove the AR from the inside? Removal of the top AR can be done with crystal removal right? Thinking about this mod as I am about to get one of these beauties myself! And thanks for any tips in advance! Cynikal.Mindset 1 Posted January 4, 2012 I left the crystal in the case and removed the AR from the inside...there was a small ring of AR around the inside ring but it was barely noticeable. The proper way would be to remove the crystal and remove the AR that way but that was too much work to be bothered with.
