WebWind 1 Posted August 15, 2011 dont mean to be a noob, lol but how can you tell its fake etc? This is GEN And now look at pics on ebay. I know pics are crappy, but look at the date indicator, or crown for example.
fletch1971 0 Posted August 15, 2011 The gen is a fantastic looking watch. The one on eBay looks like a piece of crap. He doesn't deserve to sell it, if for no other reason he couldn't be bothered cleaning the watch and making it look even semi presentable. Watch those dodgy Aussies
fletch1971 0 Posted August 15, 2011 I checked out some of his feedback and other items he has sold. Cheap crap and 1 guy left feedback saying his wife was happy. The item he bought was a 9ct gold and diamond engagement ring. It cost him $42......... I bet she's real happy that he splashed out a whopping $42 for her engagement ring. Yes I know, it's not all about the money, but come on, a $42 engagement ring from eBay????????
wolfwood 4 Posted August 15, 2011 Isn't the usualy tell the G on the TAG logo? Rep Gs are usually not an arrow at the ends but the gens are.
Monsieur_B 0 Posted August 15, 2011 My eyes! My eyes huuurt! Reading the feedback part is fun. So many idiots. Honestly, who in the world with at least 2 brain cells thinks to land a diamond solid gold engagement ring for 52 AU$???
fe22ari 0 Posted August 15, 2011 Or he's a complete dick that actually thinks he's selling a gen? Reported anyway.
fe22ari 0 Posted August 15, 2011 You know, I reckon he thinks it's a gen because if he knew it was a rep, why on earth would he post such clear shots of the tells?
chum_2000_uk 0 Posted August 15, 2011 Just another example of the types of retards that frequent eBay.
Monsieur_B 0 Posted August 15, 2011 You know, I reckon he thinks it's a gen because if he knew it was a rep, why on earth would he post such clear shots of the tells? As far as I could see these are several guys dealing with cheap @ss sh!t. I think it's intended to rip off people, even if they make 30 bucks on a fake ring, it still might be thousands at the emnd of each month... Reported too... ^+
ReplicaFromDownunder 2 Posted August 15, 2011 I reported it also. Plenty of retards on eBay. Not to mention the retard buyers that are bidding, they must be fools... Hopefully it is taken down ASAP! Glad you all had a laugh, I did!

pamelo 0 Posted August 15, 2011 (edited) I have a lot of ebay experience as a seller and buyer. My advice: Don't even look at new watches. You know, the $27000 Pams and Rolexes, etc. probably 50% are fakes. And stay away from FOREIGN watches (for US buyers). The watches of interest are the USED watches. Especially the VINTAGE watches. Most of those are real, though their condition may be questionable. If you know your watches, be on the lookout for vintage watches where the seller may not know what he is selling. You get gems there. Also, watches that are poorly presented--not polished, blurry pics, not enough info, etc. Bidding is usually lower on these watches. Also, check the last 5 minutes of bidding on used watches (click on "ending soonest"). Just before the bid ends. You can find underpriced gems that way. Also newly listed "buy-it-nows". Some people price an item for quick sale. I bought a gen Rolex on a cheap last minute bid because the watch crystal was all scratched up and it looked dirty. But the dial was good. And it had been serviced ( a big plus for used watches.) When I got the watch, 10 minutes of cape cod cloth, and the watch looked brand new-- all scratches removed from the acrylic crystal (which is why I like acrylic crystals) and the ss/gold polished up beautiful. It's a buyers market on ebay for used watches. There are probably more watches for sale than buyers. Be careful. You can get addicted to those gold-plated deco Bulovas and Elgins from the 30s and 40s. Edited August 15, 2011 by pamelo
