"In very sad news for watch fans the world over, legendary designer Gérald Genta has died.

We have received confirmation of his passing from multiple sources and are awaiting further details. For those who don't know, Génta was responsible for a handful of the most iconic watch designs of the 20th century, including Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak, Patek Philippe's Nautilus, IWC's Ingenieur SL, Universal Geneve's Polerouter, Omega's Seamaster Constellation, Bvglari's "Bvlgari Bvlgari" and several more."

Sad, sad news, GG, was an absolute design genius and a legend in horological circles, I'm not sure how active he was recently, but he has to be credited as the man who brought about the dress / sports watch revolution

Damn, that's really bad news... Mr. Genta was a man of pure genius.

His Octo Grande Sonnerie Retro was a total masterpiece. Even to this day, it's one of the most complicated and perfectly executed Grande Complications of our time.

May he rest in peace.

One guy designed all those watches? That's cool. They all kinda look a little similar, so it makes sense. Thats too bad that he died.

+1

I'm no horological expert so I'm not really up on history / names etc, but they are pretty classic designs so he was obviously good.
