SFE 0 Posted August 20, 2011 (edited) hello ! I have an IWC Big Pilot for about 3 weeks and I am very surprised about the accuracy of the movement (so far of course...). A little information : the power reserve of my watch works. The watch makes less than +3 sec per day ; during the night, the PR goes down to day 5 (from max). Here is a pic of the movement ; as you can see, there is plenty of space around it witch was a little bit surprising for me but the important thing is the fact that it's working well ! Anybody have an idea of the name of that movement ? Luthier said in an other topic that it's probably a modified DG2813. Thanks ! Waipio Jeff 0 Posted August 20, 2011 Looks like a basic 21J Asian with a working PR to me.
mondeov6 0 Posted August 20, 2011 Could be a 23J Asian movement. I have/have had that same movement in a couple of my watches and they have all been quite accurate and without problems. Seems to be a reliable movement.
Luthier 1 Posted August 20, 2011 Be happy it works well, mate.
Frankt8242 1 Posted August 20, 2011 (edited) That's a Seagull ST-25-30,(25j base movement, +10j wind module) 35 jewel modular movement...IMNSFHO, one of the nicest Asian movements currently offered!! I have a Pam 090 with this movement, and it performs flawlessly!! The Power reserve actually is @ 40 hours, not several days, but who cares..?? Edited August 20, 2011 by Frankt8242
mondeov6 0 Posted August 20, 2011 Here is a pic of a PAM090 I sold not to long ago. Looks to be the same movement so my money is on Frankt8242!
Luthier 1 Posted August 20, 2011 ST-2530 has seconds@9, not in the center, different PR location and has 23 jewels. And... +10 stones for wind module??? They didn't use any stones in sec@9 to sec@6 module on Daytona!!! ST-2530 used in some PAMs. They could use the same base for many different movements. My 090 also has ST-2530, with seconds@9. mondeov6 0 Posted August 20, 2011 As far as movements goes I no almost nooooothing! The 090 had seconds@9 and was, when I come to think of it announced as 21J or 23J when I bought it.... well...confusing it is for a noob like me! ...Just to many modified movements around!

I stand corrected....But the base movement is def a Seagull ST-25...They produce several variations on this basic movement... It is definitely a cut above the standard 2813 in finish quality.....And IIRC...the 25 in the ST-25 ID refers to the jewel count... And comparing the Daytona conversion "abortion" to a Seagull produced wind module is at best inaccurate...

How long those movement can last ? Thanks.
greg_r 83 Posted August 24, 2011 If you can find someone to service it - pretty much indefinitely. Even without servicing it should last quite a few years...
